Andrea Fox By
Andrea Fox
Andrea has been practising yoga on and off for 30 years, using it to promote her own wellbeing. She fulfilled my dream of becoming a yoga teacher over 3 years ago. Destiny took her to find this teaching in an ashram in Kerala in India. She lived there for a month learning traditional Hatha yoga from monks who had lived in caves for years. Following this immersive 200-hour teacher training course, Andrea’s passion to seek further enlightenment took her to Nepal last year. Here she completed a 100-hour trauma-informed teacher training course. She learned how yoga can positively impact on the healing process of people who have experienced trauma. In 2018 Andrea has also completed a 50 hour Ayurvedic Therapy course in Rishikesh in India. Andrea says “I am delighted to have the opportunity to share the gift of yoga with you in Hutton Active’s perfectly attuned environment. Through the practice of different postures (*asanas), breathwork (*pranayama) and meditation (*dhyana) we can achieve greater harmony between our body and mind to improve our overall health and wellbeing.” *Sanskrit – language of ancient India with a 3,500-year history)

Matilda Poward By

For me, Yoga is all about connections: connections with the breath, body, mind and spirit. In a world that is so focused on what happened in the past and what might happen in the future, we are often taken out of the present moment. When we focus on the breath and movement, we are brought into the present and there is where we can find peace and calm. The human body and mind are capable of incredible things, by practising yoga we can build the confidence to explore what we are capable of, both physically and mentally. It is also the means by which we can practice both acceptance and courage. I completed my 200hr Teacher Training at The Yoga Studio, Carlisle in 2019, focusing on the functional approach to hatha yoga. This works on the assumption that every single body is unique, which means each yoga posture will feel and look different for every individual. With this in mind, yoga should always be about how it feels, not just about what it looks like. Yoga should be enjoyable and leave you feeling restored and happy! That’s always what I aim to achieve for my students when I teach.
