For me, Yoga is all about connections: connections with the breath, body, mind and spirit. In a world that is so focused on what happened in the past and what might happen in the future, we are often taken out of the present moment. When we focus on the breath and movement, we are brought into the present and there is where we can find peace and calm.
The human body and mind are capable of incredible things, by practising yoga we can build the confidence to explore what we are capable of, both physically and mentally.
It is also the means by which we can practice both acceptance and courage.
I completed my 200hr Teacher Training at The Yoga Studio, Carlisle in 2019, focusing on the functional approach to hatha yoga. This works on the assumption that every single body is unique, which means each yoga posture will feel and look different for every individual. With this in mind, yoga should always be about how it feels, not just about what it looks like. Yoga should be enjoyable and leave you feeling restored and happy! That’s always what I aim to achieve for my students when I teach.
